John Edwards Memorial Collection, n.d.

Recordings of the Old Time Record Review, a radio program of commercial recordings of U.S. folk music from the 1920s-1950s. This syndicated radio show was produced by the John Edwards Memorial Foundation at the University of California at Los Angeles in the late 1960s, and announced by Barry Hansen. The collection includes playlists and typed transcripts of program notes on musicians for the musical genres featured in the programs, including hillbilly music, country string bands, early radio, pop songs in country music, cowboy songs, western swing, the emergence of country and western, white sacred mucis, African-American blues and gospel music, early country blues, piano blues, bawdy blues, and sermons and spirituals.
